Tarangire National Park

A captivating wilderness of ancient baobabs, vast savannahs and remarkable elephant herds, offering an intimate safari experience far from the ordinary.

The experience

Tarangire National Park in its own rhythm.

Tarangire is not simply a place to see elephants. It is a place to feel the ancient rhythm of the wild.

Across the sweeping landscapes of northern Tanzania, enormous baobabs rise above golden grasslands and woodland. Dawn brings elephants moving quietly between the trees, giraffes crossing the open plains and predators beginning their day. By evening, the same landscape is transformed by long shadows, glowing skies and the quiet anticipation of what might appear next.

For many, Tarangire is synonymous with elephants—often gathering in remarkable herds around the Tarangire River and other permanent water sources. But the park offers far more than its iconic giants. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest and giraffes create extraordinary encounters, particularly during the dry season when wildlife concentrates around water.

Beyond the wildlife is a landscape with its own character: ancient baobabs, sweeping savannahs, woodland, seasonal wetlands and the ever-changing light of the African day. It is also a rewarding haven for birdlife, with colourful rollers, bee-eaters and majestic raptors adding movement to the trees and skies.

At Naibalaa Mara Safaris, we believe a safari should be more than a list of sightings. It should slow you down. Give you space to watch, listen and connect with the wilderness. To experience Tarangire not as a spectator, but as a traveller immersed in its story.
